Fosshape Mask

I used Fosshape to recreate this Japanese Noh mask called Daikijin, or great devil god. I used a Styrofoam head and built up features using DAS clay. Onto this matrix I molded the Fosshape, having to add seams to go around the more extreme curves like the nose. The horns were sculpted around a 3D printed matrix. I used a mini iron to create detail impressions on the forehead. I used spray painted buckram pieces as cover for the eyes and mouth so that the wearer could see and project their voice through the mask. Once the mask was painted, hair was inserted through holes and cleaned on the inside with bias tape. Fabric covered foam pads fill in the forehead and nose to sit comfortably on the face, and elastic holds the mask in place.
