Historic Reproduction

For this project I picked a bodice to reproduce from UNC's vintage garment collection, Costar. I analyzed and researched the garment and copied a pattern off of it. I then recreated the bodice for a modern body using materials available today. The original and reproduction bodices are made of a fine cotton gauze with lace details. The asymmetry of the bodice is particularly unique, especially with the painted details on the right flange. I airbrushed the designs with a stencil to replicate the look. The bodice interior is finished in the same manner as the original, including the padded eggs to fill in the hollow between the bust and armscye. The research paper and patterns of the original bodice can be found on the Costar website.
